The profile area prepares you specifically for a career in accounting and taxation. In addition to the essential basics, you will acquire in-depth specialist knowledge at the University of Hohenheim, which will significantly improve your career prospects. Course content

Combine legal and economic knowledge

What is it about? In the profile area, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of the three accounting sub-areas of external and internal accounting as well as business taxation. The purposes and content of corporate accounting rules and details of international accounting and accounting policy are emphasised. In addition, the profile area provides basic knowledge of company law as the basis for accounting and corporate taxation and gives an insight into financial tax theory. The focus is also on the principles of corporate taxation, tax effects and tax planning as well as legal knowledge of tax law and corporate succession. In this respect, the profile area represents an interdisciplinary legal and economic specialisation.

What is being researched? Research in the area of accounting and taxes initially comprises (group) accounting in accordance with HGB and IFRS as well as company valuation. The focus is also on empirical research on auditing and accounting issues. Tax law is analysed from both an economic and a legal perspective. Research concentrates on both the national and international spheres of taxation. Legal doctrinal considerations play a prominent role, as do questions about the decision-making effects of taxation. In the field of finance, research focuses on the topic of taxation, in particular empirical research on tax enforcement.

You will acquire analytical skills and interdisciplinary abilities in the field of legal and economic analysis. Thanks to the wide range of modules and possible combinations, the profile area is a very good preparation for the increasingly complex requirements of preparing and auditing annual financial statements and providing tax advice to companies and private individuals. You will also be able to build a very good foundation for an in-depth Master's degree and for the professional examinations you are aiming for (tax consultant, auditor).
