Your course of study

One program – two degrees

The double degree option in the specialization "International Business and Economics" (Double-Bachelor-Program) is a joint offer of the Universities of Hohenheim and Liège. The program involves studying at the home university for the first two years and at the partner university for the third year. For you as a "Hohenheimer", this means that you begin your studies in Hohenheim and transfer to Liège for the third year, where you complete your studies with two degrees. With one program, you acquire both the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics and the Bachelier en sciences économiques et de gestion.

In Hohenheim, the first 3 semesters of the program are identical to the standard program of the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics and consist completely of mandatory modules. A deviation from the standard curriculum only takes place from the 4th semester onwards and provides for 2 mandatory and 3 elective modules totalling 30 ECTS. The 3rd year of study in Liège comprises mandatory modules totalling 48 ECTS as well as 12 ECTS for the Bachelor thesis.

The Double-Bachelor-Program in Business Administration and Economics offers you an intensive introduction to the subjects of business administration and economics, social sciences, as well as mathematics and statistics in the first two years in Hohenheim. In Liège, you will be immersed in the francophone and intercultural world of Business Administration and Economics at the HEC and complete your studies with a Bachelor's thesis

Digital networking

In addition to you, there will also be students in Liège who complete the Double-Bachelor-Program and begin at their home university. We focus on early digital networking between the year groups and then also connecting the different year groups on one campus.

Integrated language courses

In your first year, you will follow a very similar program to the other students enrolled in Business Administration and Economics. At the same time, you can use the services of the Language Centre to develop your French before attending a mandatory language module in Business French in the fourth semester. The third year of study in Liège will continue to deal with topics in business administration and economics, but the language of instruction will be mostly French. Therefore, we want to prepare you well in Hohenheim.

Your requirements

High-performing and committed

You should have a lot of curiosity and openness, as well as a high level of commitment and flexibility. The change of university requires adaptability in your everyday life and studies and a good portion of discipline. The program will certainly demand more from you than studying in one place - but you can also experience and achieve much more. So it's worth it!

In addition to your interest in business, you should definitely have a high affinity for foreign languages and intercultural contexts, in this case especially for French. We expect that you can prove knowledge of French at B2 level after completing the 3rd semester.

French language requirements

  • DELF B2 (DELF scolaire/Junior, DELF tous publics, DELF PRO)
  • UNIcert II (at least "good")
  • Abi-Bac (simultaneous acquisition of the general matriculation standard [Abitur] and the French Baccalauréat [Bac]).
  • Alternatively, the Abitur certificate (special subject/ advanced course/ specialization) with at least 10 points in French is also accepted as proof.

In the case of proof of language skills at B1 level, a placement can only be granted with reservations. In this case, proof of B2 level must be provided by the end of the 3rd semester. This can be achieved by taking French courses at the Language Centre (4 hours per semester over the course of 2 semesters).

A B1 certificate can be obtained either by:

  • DELF B1
  • At least 4 years of French at school (taken up to the 12th/13th school year) with at least 10 points.

Added value of multiple degrees

A multiple degree is the best foundation for your international career.

With your Double-Bachelor degree, you not only have an advantage on the foreign labor market, but also on the interior labor market. Since a multiple degree proves your ability to perform, your flexibility and your independence.

Advantages versus a semester abroad

In a multiple degree program, your stays abroad and foreign study achievements are firmly integrated into the curriculum. With a semester abroad, in contrast, foreign achievements have to be recognized by your home university at a later date, and your studies can tend to take longer.

Benefit from the partner network

What's special about our degree program is that you can also use the networks of our partners for your career entry. This opens up many international internship and career opportunities for you. In addition, you will also benefit from the good reputation of our partner university when applying for jobs.

You will gain:

  • International experience
  • Better language skills
  • Intercultural competence
  • Higher reputation due to higher requirements
