Which modules do I have to take during my studies? Which modules are compulsory electives? Are there deadlines in the degree program? 

You can find these answers in the examination regulations, in the module catalog and in the study plan. Three important documents to give you the best overview of your studies.

The examination regulations contain all legal regulations regarding examinations. In the module catalog you will find all the modules that you must or can take in your studies. The study plan shows the modules in the individual semesters in chronological order. Read through everything at the beginning of your studies so that you are well informed about your options in your studies. This is your tool to plan your studies from the beginning.

Study organisation

When do my courses take place? When do the exams take place? 

Here are your guideposts:

  • Create your personal timetable. 
  • You can find all the courses in the current semester in the course catalogue.
  • In HohCampus you can manage your studies, such as re-registering for your studies and registering for exams.
  • In ILIAS you can access the event content and course materials.
  • The Examinations Office is your contact for examination matters.
  • The Student Administration Office is your contact for your study administration: from enrolment, re-registration, leave of absence and ex-registration.


Study newsletter

So that you don't miss any important information about your degree programme, please register for the degree programme newsletter for your degree programme.

Inform yourself sessions

To ensure that you are well informed about your studies, we offer information sessions every semester on the topics of starting your studies, free elective areas, semesters abroad, profile and focus areas, internships and final theses. Attend the session when you need the topic. You can register via the F.I.T. platform.

Student Counselling Center

The team at the Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) will advise and inform you on all questions concerning the implementation of your studies.

Example topics: General study organisation, difficulties in the course of studies, learning and working techniques, psychological counselling.

CareerCenter Hohenheim

The team at the CareerCenter Hohenheim (CCH) will advise and inform you on all questions regarding career orientation, profile building and career entry. This service is free of charge for you.   

Example topics: Strengths analysis, application document check, interview coaching, job database.

Do you have individual questions about the content of your degree programme? The student advisory service can help you.

Example topics: Academic counselling, for questions about the course of study and questions about the content of the educational science part of the degree programme, support with questions about the choice of profile.

When contacting us, please answer the following questions as specifically as possible. This will help us to provide you with quick and targeted advice:

  • What exactly is your concern?
  • What questions are open?
  • How did you try to clarify the open questions on your own in advance? What information was obtained?
  • What are your expectations/wishes for the interview?
  • In addition, please state your start date and semester so that we can assign you to the correct PO.

Mandatory internships

In the Bachelor's degree programme, you must complete a 5-week company internship and a 2-week compulsory school internship. The school internship can only be completed in conjunction with the preparatory and follow-up seminar (VuNS) for the school internship semester. If you would like to start your traineeship after completing your Master's degree, you will need a total of 52 weeks of practical training. More about the compulsory internship More about the compulsory school internship

Semester abroad & recognition

As part of your studies, you can complete a stay abroad. The University of Hohenheim maintains partnerships with other universities both within Europe with the ERASMUS programme and overseas. You have the opportunity to have examination results obtained abroad recognised for the modules in your degree programme.

Thesis

To ensure that you get a supervisor for your thesis, there is an award procedure. Two award procedures are offered per year: The first award procedure takes place in February for registration of the thesis in the summer semester, the second award procedure takes place in August for registration of the thesis in the winter semester. The award procedure is offered via KVS.
