Structured training and target-oriented support - The successful path to a doctorate

In the context of the doctoral study program "Business, Economics and Social Sciences" of which examination regulations are valid since 01.09.2023 (previously "Business Administration and Economics") professional knowledge, skills and methods at the cutting edge of research and scientific work as well as soft skills are imparted. Through intensive discussion of the latest studies, intervision of one's own research work as well as continuous exchange, we jointly explore the possibilities and limits of research in business, economics and social sciences, with the aim of expanding it with our ideas and insights.

The University of Hohenheim offers two thematically structured research training groups:

Better doctorate in the study program

Completion of the doctoral program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences is an additional qualification to the regular doctoral phase. The aim is to accompany the preparation of a dissertation in the context of obtaining the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences in a structured manner and in accordance with international quality standards, as well as to impart specialist knowledge, skills and methods at the current level of economic research and scientific work.

Good points!
  • The successful participation in the doctoral study program indicates research-oriented training and high-quality research contributions.
  • The courses are specially designed for doctoral candidates and provide in-depth technical knowledge, especially in the area of methods.
  • The doctoral study program is designed to be completed while working, for example, in a faculty department.
  • Graduates may request to receive the international academic degree "Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)" instead of a doctoral degree from the faculty.
  • A certificate confirms the successful participation.

New: Participation in the doctoral study program is possible even before acceptance as a doctoral candidate at the faculty. In this case, some of several prerequisites for admission are the independent search for a supervisor who matches the student's own research interests and the fulfillment of the admission requirements for a doctorate at the faculty.
