Dean's List

In cooperation with the Hohenheim Career Center, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences supports particularly motivated and high-performing students with outstanding academic and examination results.

As a special support measure, the top three percent of all students are placed on a "Dean's List" each semester, following the American model, whereby all degree programs in the Faculty are taken into account.

How do you get on the Dean’s List?

After the examination period, all of the grades entered into the Examinations Office program for the respective semester (all examination components, seminar papers, but not preliminary examinations, final grades, or grades from the final thesis) are evaluated if they were passed. What is important for the evaluation is when the examinations were taken.

For each student, an average grade and the number of examinations is calculated. Students who took fewer than three exams are not taken into consideration. The average grade is only relevant is three or more examinations were taken. The examinations required for the Dean’s List thus varies from semester to semester.

The best three percent of all students are then invited in writing to be put on the Dean’s List. After the students have given their consent, the students are given a certificate by a member of the Faculty Board in the context of an award ceremony that takes place each semester.

What are the advantages of being on the dean's list?

When applying for positions after your studies or applying for internships, the Dean’s List can be a valuable reference. In addition, together with the Faculty, the CareerCenter Hohenheim plans one or two events per year with companies from Stuttgart. The students thus also profit directly from personal contact with managers and can inform themselves about the requirements of professional life or their chances for starting a career.
