Doctoral Program in Finance

The Doctoral Program in Finance at the University of Hohenheim combines the competencies of the university's chairs related to finance and provides a broad spectrum of methodological and theoretical knowledge in the field of finance. It thus supports scientific work at the highest academic level, increases the chances of success of the doctoral project and the publication of research results in relevant, renowned journals. It also broadens the perspective for research and teaching beyond one's own doctorate.

In addition to the dedicated teaching offered by the university, there is the possibility of integrating specific methodological or thematic courses from other providers. In addition, networking among the researchers of the participating chairs, but also beyond the University of Hohenheim, is a declared goal of the Doctoral Program. The use of existing networks enables finding knowledge needed for one's own research and competent partners.

Structure of the Doctoral Program in Finance

The Doctoral Program in Finance is divided into a Basics area and a Specialization area. In the Basic area, the focus is particularly on teaching research strategies and methods. The basic training is supplemented by courses in the area of soft skills and university didactics as well as by active participation in workshops, research seminars and scientific conferences.

In the Specialization area, students can choose between the Research Track and the Teaching Track. In the Research Track, the focus is on a methodological specialization and participation in seminars and conferences, which can optionally be supplemented by activities in the field of higher education didactics. In the Teaching Track, doctoral students complete the Baden-Württemberg Certificate for Higher Education Didactics and carry out activities in the field of university didactics, in addition, there is a choice between a methodological specialization or participation in seminars and conferences.
