The Double-Master's-Programs of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences offer you the attractive option of earning two degrees in one study program. The programs are structured in such a way that you can earn the double degree within the regular period of study. Spend your second year at a renowned university in Belgium (HEC Management School of the Université de Liège) or Italy (Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia or Università degli studi di Pavia or Università degli Studi dell'Insubria). Get to know a different teaching and living culture there, develop yourself personally and open up international career opportunities.

Your course of studies

One study - two degrees

The Double-Master's-Programs in International Business and Economics (IBE) are offered at the University of Liège in Belgium and the Universities of Venezia, Pavia and Insubria in Italy.

The study credits (60 EP | 60 EP) and the study time (1 year | 1 year) are divided in half: You start your studies in Hohenheim and complete the first two semesters there. The second year of study takes place at your chosen partner university and ends with your Master's thesis. With one course of study you will obtain both the Master International Business and Economics and the Master en sciences de gestion à finalité spécialisée en «Banking and Asset Management» (Liège) or the Laurea Magistrale in Economia e gestione delle aziende - International Management (Venice) or the Laurea Magistrale in Management (Pavia) or the Laurea Magistrale in International Business and Entrepreneurship (Insubria/Varese).

The courses of study in the double degree programs are closely based on the basic structure of the IBE: In addition to the basic program, you have the opportunity to choose two areas of concentration with a total of 18 ECTS. You will take these in Hohenheim and at your partner university. In addition, you will take further elective modules.

The double master's programs can be studied entirely in English both at Hohenheim and at the partner schools in Belgium and Italy.

Course of Studies - Universiy of Liège

As a student in the Master's International Business and Economics, you have the opportunity to complete your second year at the HEC Management School of the University of Liège in the Master en sciences de gestion à finalité spécialisée en "Banking and Asset Management". You will already get to know your Belgian fellow students at the beginning of your studies, as they will also spend their first Master's year in Hohenheim.

Your first year of studyin Hohenheim

In addition to the basic modules (24 ECTS), you will take three modules (18 ECTS) from the focus area of your choice. Here you have the choice between the focal points Innovation Management and Economics, International Economics and Data Analytics. In addition, you will take a module (6 ECTS) in the area of finance as well as further elective modules (12 ECTS), which you can choose freely from the timetable of the IBE Master.

Your second year of study in Liège

Your third semester takes place in Liège. In addition to the compulsory courses (15 ECTS) and the focus area "Fund Industry" (5 ECTS), you will take two further focus areas of your choice (10 ECTS). In Liège you also have the chance to gain further practical experience. An internship (10 ECTS) is a mandatory part of the curriculum. The Master's thesis (20 ECTS) is usually supervised by Hohenheim faculty and written in English.

Course of studies- University of Venice

As a student in the Master International Business and Economics you have the opportunity to complete your second year at the Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia in the Laurea Magistrale in Economia e gestione delle aziende - International Management.

Your first year of study in Hohenheim

In addition to the basic course (24 ECTS), you will take the compulsory modules from the areas of "International Management" and "International Economics" as well as two additional elective modules. The selection of the modules is based on the equivalence list of the courses in Venice and Hohenheim, which is integrated into the study plan. The further course selection in Venice (30 ECTS) is also made according to the equivalence list.

Your second year of study in Venice

In addition to the modules you have chosen (30 ECTS), an integrated internship (6 ECTS) and the preparation of the Master's thesis (24 ECTS) are planned. The professors in Venice will supervise your Master's thesis, which you will present to a commission as part of a final examination.

As a student in the Masters International Business and Economics you have the opportunity to complete your second year at the Università di Pavia in the Laurea Magistrale in Management.

Your first year of study in Hohenheim

In addition to the basic module (18 EP), you will also take the compulsory modules from the areas of "International Management" and "International Economics" (30 EP) as well as three additional elective modules (18 EP).

Your second year of study in Pavia

In addition to a mandatory module in law, you will take a foreign language (9 EP). Depending on your specialization in Digital Management or International Management, you can choose from various options in the fields of Business, Economics and Engineering/Informatics. In addition, you will take further courses or complete an internship to gain international work experience (12 EP). The professors in Pavia will supervise your Master's thesis, which you will present to a committee as part of a final exam.

As a student in the Master International Business and Economics you have the opportunity to complete your second year at the Università degli Studi dell'Insubria in the Laurea Magistrale in International Business and Entrepreneurship.

Your first year of study in Hohenheim

In addition to the basic area (18 EP), you will take five compulsory modules (30 EP) from the core subjects "International Management" and "International Economics" (30 EP). In addition, you can choose two modules (12 EP) freely from the module catalog.

Your second year of study in Insubria/Varese

In Varese/Como, the focus on International Economics and Economics of Innovation will be further deepened. In addition to taking further compulsory and elective modules (42 EP), you will prepare and defend your Master's thesis (18 EP).

So it is worth it!In addition to your interest in management, it is important that you meet the requirements for the Master's program in International Business and Economics (IBE) and that you are motivated to study in an international context. A good knowledge of German and English is also important, as some courses at Hohenheim are held exclusively in German and the courses at the partner universities are held exclusively in English.

Application

The application procedure for the Double-Master's-Programs is integrated into the admission procedure for the Hohenheim Master's programs and therefore has two stages. In the following, we will explain the application procedure for the Double-Master's-Programs step by step.

Stage 1: Application for Master's program

Prerequisite: In the first step, it is important that you submit the complete application documents for the Master's International Business and Economics by May 15 of the year. Only then is participation in the selection process possible.
Online application: When applying for the Master's program, you can also indicate which Double-Master's-Program you would like to apply for. Be prepared to upload a letter of motivation at this point.

Stage 2: Double-Master's-Programs

Congratulations! As soon as you have been admitted to the Master's program, you will automatically participate in the second step of the selection process for Double-Master's-Programs.
Selection: The selection is made on the basis of the available application documents and is based on the rankings of the admission list for the corresponding Master's program. Selection interviews take place only in individual cases.
Don't worry, the waiting period is not too long! Even before you enroll at Hohenheim, you will be notified whether you will study in the normal Master's program or in a Double-Master's-Program. Depending on the number of applicants, a waiting list will be kept or an allocation of remaining places will be organized during the 1st semester.

Application documents Double-Master's-Program

Letter of motivation: In addition to the usual documents, you must also include a one- to two-page letter of motivation with your application. Please let us know your preferred Double-Master's-Program and your preferred focus. Have you already gained experience abroad and intercultural skills? Great! Please tell us about your previous experiences in your letter of motivation!
Language requirements: As an applicant for the Double-Master's-Programs you have to prove an English level of B2.

If you already have knowledge of the relevant national language, this is of course an advantage, but not a prerequisite for your application.
