Your course of studies

One study - two degrees

The Double-Master's-Programs in HMM are offered at the University of Liège in Belgium and the University of Venezia in Italy.

The study time (1 year | 1 year) is divided in half: You start your studies in Hohenheim and complete the first two semesters there. Most of the second year of study takes place at your chosen partner university and ends with your master's thesis. With one study program, you acquire both the Master Management and the Master en sciences de gestion or the Laurea Magistrale in Economia e gestione delle aziende - International Management.

The courses of study in the double degree programs are closely based on the basic structure of the HMM: In addition to the basic area, you choose an area of specialization. You take these in Hohenheim and at your partner university. In addition, you will take further elective modules.

As a student of the HMM you have the opportunity to complete your second year at the HEC Management School of the University of Liège in the Master en Sciences de gestion. You will already get to know your Belgian fellow students at the beginning of your studies, as they will also spend their first Master's year in Hohenheim.

Your first year of study

In addition to the basic modules (18 ECTS), you will take four to five modules (24-40 ECTS) from your respective focus area. In addition, two to three modules (12-18 ECTS) are freely chosen from the overall curriculum. For the 2nd semester it is recommended that you attend a seminar module (6 ECTS) in the focus area, but attendance is not obligatory for you.

Your second year of study

Your third semester takes place in Liège. Here, in addition to the compulsory courses, you will choose two modules from the range of courses for language and key competencies (15 ECTS) as well as further modules from the focus area (15 ECTS). In Liège you also have the chance to gain further practical experience. An internship (10 ECTS) is a mandatory part of the curriculum and should last at least 10 weeks. This is part of the fourth semester and includes an oral defense in Liège. Also part of the fourth semester is the Master's thesis (20 ECTS), which is usually supervised by Hohenheim faculty.

Study focus

The Universities of Hohenheim and Liège offer Double-Master's-Programs for students of the Masters in Management in the following focus areas:

As a student:in the Marketing & Management major at HMM, you have the opportunity to complete your second year of study at the Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia in the Laurea Magistrale in Economia e gestione delle aziende - International Management.

Your first year of study

In addition to the basic course (18 ECTS), you will take three compulsory modules from the subject "Marketing & Management" (18 ECTS) and four further modules (24 ECTS). The selection of the modules is based on the equivalence list of the courses in Venice and Hohenheim. The further course selection in Venice (30 ECTS) is also made according to the equivalence list (link).

Your second year of study

In addition to the modules you have chosen (30 ECTS), an integrated internship (6 ECTS) and the preparation of the Master's thesis (24 ECTS) are planned. The professors in Venice will supervise your Master's thesis, which you will present to a commission as part of a final examination.

Study focus

Note: When choosing this program, you should be aware that the choice of modules is very limited and that the curriculum imposes a strict course of study. In addition, the program has a focus on International Management, which makes it somewhat different from the focus on Marketing & Management at Hohenheim.

Our partners

HEC Liège (Liege)

Liège has nearly 200,000 inhabitants and is the economic and cultural center of Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium. The city impresses with architectural diversity - from the medieval old town to the trend-setting train station - and lures with the scent of the famous Belgian waffles. Our partner is the HEC Management School of the Université de Liège. It was created in 2005 from the merger of the Management and Economics Department of the University of Liège (founded in 1817) and the HEC Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Liège (founded in 1898).

Università Ca´Foscari di Venezia (Venice)

The Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia was founded in 1868 as a business school. The main building of the university - the late Gothic Palazzo Foscari - is located in the heart of Venice and borders directly on the Grand Canal. The university not only impresses with its picturesque setting: Both nationally and internationally, the Università Ca'Foscari di Venezia enjoys a great reputation and is one of the best universities for business in Italy.

With our partners we are connected by more than 10 years of close and trustful cooperation, the experience of joint projects, as well as the already several years of cooperation in double degree programs. Both the University of Hohenheim and the University of Liège are members of the HERMES network and the AACSB. Liège has already successfully gone through the international accreditation processes of AACSB and EFMD global, Venice is a member of EFMD global and is seeking accreditations in this network, Hohenheim is aiming for accreditation by AACSB by 2023 at the latest.

Your requirements

Powerful and committed

You should bring along a lot of curiosity and openness, as well as commitment and flexibility. The change of university requires adaptability in everyday life and studies and a good portion of discipline. The program will certainly demand more from you than studying in one place - but you can also experience and achieve much more. So it's worth it!

In addition to your interest in management, it is important that you meet the requirements for the Master's program in Management (HMM) and that you are motivated to study in an international context. A good knowledge of German and English is also important, as some events in Hohenheim are held exclusively in German and the events at the partner universities are held exclusively in English.

Added value multiple closure

A multiple degree is the best foundation for starting your international career.
With your double master's degree, you can score points not only on the foreign job market, but also on the domestic job market. Because you prove your efficiency, adaptability and independence.

Advantages compared to a semester abroad

In a multiple degree program, your stays abroad and foreign study achievements are firmly integrated into the study plan. In the case of a semester abroad, on the other hand, foreign credits must be recognized by the home university at a later date, and studies may tend to be prolonged.

Profit from the partner network

The special thing about our program is that you can also use the networks of our partners for your internship semester. This opens up many international internship and career opportunities for you. In addition, you will also benefit from the good reputation of our partner universities when applying.

You win:

  • Experience abroad
  • Better language skills
  • Intercultural competence
  • Higher reputation due to higher requirements
  • Better career opportunities
