According to Sec. 4(1 and 2) of the habilitation regulations, the admission requirements are:
- It is only possible to complete a habilitation in fields represented at the University of Hohenheim and in which the University has the right to confer doctoral qualifications.
- A doctorate at a German university or equivalent university or academic degree at a foreign scientific university that is equivalent to a doctorate and qualifies the holder to use this academic degree in the Federal Republic of Germany.
- Several years of scientific activity in research and teaching in the field in which the habilitation is to be completed.
- Previous achievements that show a particular ability to research at an international level, preferrably an appropriate number of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
