The profile area prepares you specifically for a career in accounting, controlling, and taxation. Course content

Combine legal and economic knowledge

What is it about? In the profile area, you will gain in-depth knowledge of the functions of controlling and the three sub-areas of accounting: external and internal accounting, and business taxation. You will learn the basics of national accounting and examine the company in all its financial sub-disciplines, which, together with the areas of controlling and taxation, will prepare you intensively for a career in management consulting or at leading companies in the region.

What is being researched? Research in the field of accounting, controlling, and taxation initially covers (group) accounting in accordance with HGB and IFRS as well as company valuation. The focus is also on empirical research into issues relating to auditing and accounting. The controlling area provides you with an overview of the functions of controlling and the purposes for which controlling instruments are used. Tax law is examined from both an economic and a legal perspective. Research focuses on both national and international taxation. Legal dogmatic considerations play a prominent role, as do questions about the effects of taxation on decision-making. In the field of public finance, research deals with the topic of taxation, in particular empirical research on tax enforcement.

You have further interesting opportunities with „Forschung leichtgemacht!“ in the second semester,
„Humboldt reloaded“ in the third semester and within your profile modules and the research practice module
from the fourth semester onwards.
You can have our courses and an internship credited as coursework in the free elective area.
