Opening of the Doctoral Proceedings
Once you have completed your dissertation, submit a request for the opening of the doctoral proceedings.
- All doctoral candidates who were accepted under the conditions of the doctoral degree regulations from 13.02.2015, can open their doctoral proceedings via DOCATA. The request must be filled in completely online and is afterwards submitted together with the required documents to the Graduate Academy Hohenheim. Please note: In case you have been accepted as doctoral candidate under the conditions of the doctoral degree regulations from 13.02.2015 and have no login credentials for DOCATA yet, please contact ga@uni-hohenheim.de to get registered for DOCATA.
- All doctoral candidates who were accepted before the doctoral degree regulations from 13.02.2015 went into effect, are not able to open their doctoral proceedings via DOCATA, but submit their request in paper (together with the requested documents) to the Graduate Academy Hohenheim. You can see which documents are required in the current doctoral degree regulations or the request for opening the doctoral proceedings.
The doctoral committee will then open the doctoral proceedings:
- Appointment of the reviewers
- Evaluation of the dissertation
- The summary (German/English) and the reviews are forwarded to all professors and lecturers working for the Faculty.
- Oral examination, made up of a presentation open to the University public and a defense (Disputation / Colloquium / Rigorosum).
- Review and result of the doctorate
- If the oral examination is not passed, it may be repeated at the earliest after two months and at the latest after twelve months.
- Publication of the dissertation
- Certificate and use of the doctorate title after submitting the required copies
