Application Procedure

The application procedure for the Double Master’s Degree Programs is part of the application process for the relevant Hohenheim Master Programs and consequently a two stage process.

Students, who would like to attend a Double Master’s Degree Program, have to apply in a first step for the relevant Master Program. The application deadline is 15 June. While applying for the Master's Program and filling in the online application form, students will have the opportunity to indicate their interest to study in one of the Double Master’s Degree Programs and upload the motivation letter and, if necessary an additional prove of language skills. (Exception: Double Master program with the CDHK of Tongji University in Shanghai. The application is only possible after enrolment at the beginning of the winter semester 2019/20.)

Students who will be admitted to one of our Master Programs and who have applied for a Double Master’s Degree Program will automatically take part in the second step of the application procedure for the Double Master’s Degree Programs. Selection is based on application documents and on the ranking list for admission to the relevant Master program. Interviews will be held only in particular cases. Applicants will be informed whether they will be admitted to the Double Master’s Degree Program before they enroll at the University of Hohenheim.

Applicants for a Double Master’s Degree Program submit an additional motivation letter. The motivation letter (1-2 pages) should refer to the Double Master’s Degree Program and the chosen specialization. You should also refer to international experiences and intercultural competences within your motivation letter.

Applicants for Double Master's Degree Programs need to proof an English proficiency of B2. Applicants for the HMM Double Master's Degree Programs have to submit an additional proof of English language skills. The University Entrance Qualification is not sufficient to prove your English language skills! For further information please see the next section.

For Double Master's Degree Programs in the framework of the M.Sc. Economics and M.Sc. International Business and Economics an addional proof of English proficiency is not required.

Skills of the national language – if different to the language of instruction, would be an asset, but is no prerequisite for application. Please be aware, that international students still need a proof of German language skills in order to apply for the Master in Management (HMM).

Applicants for the Double Master`s Degree Programs have to prove sufficient language skills in the language of instruction. The language skills have to be in accordance with the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. For proof you can:

  • submit a UNIcert® II or UNIcert® III certificate. The acquirement of the certificate should not date back more than a year.
  • prove sufficient results of common language tests. You can find corresponding equivalents for the B2-Level in the following list. The tests are usually valid for two years.
