Should you have any questions regarding our Double Master´s Degree Programs, you might find some answers in our FAQ section below. If not, do not hesitate to contact us.

Applications are open to students, who fulfill the conditions for the Master Programmes in Management (HMM), International Business and Economics (IBE) or Economics (ECON) and additionally are able to proof adequate language skills (level B2) and motivation for studying in an international context.
As the application procedure for the Double Master’s Degree Programme is part of the application for the Master Programmes, the application deadline is 15th of May (IBE + ECON) of 15 th of June every year.

All partner institutions offering Double Master’s Degree Programs with the University of Hohenheim belong to the HERMES Network. Further information regarding the HERMES Network and the individual member universities can be found here.

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences is continually expanding its double Master’s program offers for students in the Master’s programs Management, Economics, and International Business and Economics. In total, up to 30 spots are to be offered. You can find an overview of existing and planned programs on the pages of the respective degree programs.

  • For students in the Master’s program “Management“ (HMM), the University of Hohenheim offers a double Master’s program with the Université de Liège - HEC Management School and the Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia.
  • For students in the Master’s program “International Business and Economics“ (IBE) the University of Hohenheim offers a double Master’s program with the Università degli studi di Pavia, the Università Ca’Foscari di Venezia, and the Università degli studi dell’Insubria.
  • For students in the Master’s program “Economics“ (ECON), the University of Hohenheim offers a double Master’s program with the Université de Liège - HEC Management School and the Università degli studi di Pavia.

The programs in Liège (Belgium), Pavia, Venice and Varese (Italy) can be studied entirely in English and students must hand in a proof of English language skills (Level B2). 

German language skills are mandatory for the Double Master´s Degree Programmes in Management (HMM), since there are several lectures at the Hohenheim, which are only taught in German.

Basic skills of the local language are desirable, but no prerequisite for the application.

All Double Master’s Degree Programs follow the same general pattern. They comprise four semesters of study with a total of 120 Credits including a Master-Thesis. The first year of the Program is undertaken in Hohenheim where the first 60 Credits are obtained. The second part will be concluded at one of the partner universities where the remaining 60 Credits will be earned and the Master Thesis will be written. Some programs are combined with internships during the year of studies at the partner universities. During the entire program fees must be paid at the home institution. Studies at partner universities are tuition-free; in some cases additional fees have to be paid.

Students who have completed a Double Master’s Degree Programs successfully have the following assets:

  • two Master-Degrees
  • an integrated one-year stay abroad
  • improved language skills
  • improved intercultural competences
  • better opportunities on the labor market

The application process for the Double Master’s Degree Programs is part of the application procedure for the Master programs M.Sc. Management, M.Sc. in Economics and M.Sc. in International Business and Economics.
Consequently the application deadline is 15 June every year!
Interviews will take place in Hohenheim (or via skype) in July or August.

Participants in the Double Master’s Degree Programs are not automatically awarded a Scholarship! However, some of the programs can be supported by the Erasmus program, so students can receive a mobility grant of approximately 150 € per month.

After you have been selected for a Double Master’s Degree Program, some additional administrative steps have to be taken: You have to complete a “Learning Agreement” and also, you have to register at the partner institution for your second year of studies. We will forward all relevant information to you and (together with a contact person at the partner university) we will advise you during your studies.
