Support for Young Scientists

Since 2013, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences has made a targeted effort to promote the career development of young scientists.

Research associates are given travel grants for:

  • Participation in research committees
  • Conferences and lectures in the context of a doctorate or habilitation

Each institute has earmarked funding for this purpose that is allocated in the annual distribution of funding. Each department has an annual budget of (tentatively for 2015) around 1,750 euros.

For this type of grant, please contact the head of your department directly. They decide on the individual amount of the grant.

Research associates are reimbursed the participation fees and travel costs for:

  • University didactic education
  • Media didactic education
  • Tutor training

Expense accounting is done with the Faculty Management. With your expense claim, you must submit:

  • Expense form from the Faculty Management
  • Copy of the certificate of participation
  • Copy of the HDZ receipt
  • Copy of the receipt for payment
  • if applicable, request for travel expense reimbursement from the University of Hohenheim (travel costs) including the form business trip authorization

The network Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Finance (INEF) provides a limited number of scholarships to doctoral candidates and postdocs from the University of Hohenheim for a stay at one of the INEF partner universities and for participating in conferences. The University Management and the Faculty support the preparation of project proposals with targeted measures and rewards outstanding achievements by its young scientists.

You have an exciting idea for a research project? But you still need some prepatory work before a proposal can be submitted? A Seed Grant might be the right choice. The development of ideas and scientific preparation work for reseach proposals can be funded with a Seed Grant.
