One program – three countries – three degrees: Hohenheim, Liège and Strasbourg will start an innovative and truly European degree in Business Administration and Economics in 2022 with funding from the Franco-German University.  [23.05.22]

In the winter semester 2022/2023, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Hohenheim will start in cooperation with the HEC Management School at the Université de Liège (Belgium) and the EM Strasbourg Business School at the Université de Strasbourg (France) the joint triple bachelor’s program in Business Administration and Economics. The Franco-German University is funding the new study offer for 4 years with up to EUR 400,000.

Since 2008, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences has successfully initiated several international multiple degree programs. The international network “Higher Education and Research in Management of European UniversitieS” (HERMES), which forms a global strategic partnership with 26 universities in 16 countries, plays an important role in this. Hohenheim has more than 10 years of close and trusting cooperation in the HERMES network with its partners HEC Liège and EM Strasbourg. All three partners are also members of the “AACSB Business Education Alliance”. While Liège and Strasbourg are already accredited by AACSB and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences is currently in the process of accreditation.

Special Features of the Triple Bachelor's Program

"For the trilingual triple bachelor's program in the B.Sc. Business Administration and Economics, we have introduced the new profile area "International Management", says Dean of Studies Prof. Dr. Benjamin Jung, who is also the Academic Program Director and responsible for the new profile area. Up to 20 study places are available per year and partner for prospective students. The triple bachelor's program dispenses with a joint cohort and instead relies on the digital networking of the individual age groups and the interlinking of different age groups on one campus. The study structure provides for a one-year stay at all three universities, beginning at the home university. The Hohenheim students then continue their studies in the 2nd year in Liège and finish with the 3rd year in Strasbourg. The funding from the Franco-German University makes it possible to support students with additional mobility grants of EUR 300 per month, which makes the two-year phase abroad even more attractive.

The program combines the respective strengths of the three underlying bachelor’s degree programs and allows the cooperating universities to offer dedicated and motivated prospective students a high-quality and special offer. “Of course, it's about getting to know three European university locations with their different learning and living cultures and studying and working in different languages,” says Lars Banzhaf, who is in charge of the project and the procurement of funds from the Franco-German University on the Hohenheim side.

Professionally and methodically, the triple bachelor's program offers a scientifically sound introduction to the subjects of Business Administration and Economics, Social Sciences and Quantitative Methods (strengths especially in Hohenheim and Liège), a specialization in the field of International Management (strengths especially in Hohenheim and Strasbourg), and the application- and practice-oriented approach with an integrated internship in Strasbourg. Further language training is also anchored in the curriculum.

With a successful degree, graduates acquire both the B.Sc. Business Administration and Economics from the University of Hohenheim as well as the Bachelor in Sciences Économiques et de Gestion in Liège and the Bachelier Affaires Internationales in Strasbourg. This is a strong signal, especially with regard to the international job market.
