We are AACSB-accredited: International seal of quality for our Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences  [23.07.25]

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim has reached an important milestone: we are now officially accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

This means we belong to an exclusive circle of business schools worldwide that are permitted to bear this internationally renowned seal of quality – less than six percent of all business schools worldwide meet the demanding criteria of the AACSB.

The AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) is a leading global accreditation organisation for business schools. Since its foundation in 1916, it has set internationally recognised standards for quality and excellence in business education. AACSB accreditation is considered one of the most important seals of quality for business schools worldwide.

The accreditation is the result of several years of intensive development. It recognises our consistent focus on excellence in research, teaching, transfer and internationalisation.

In its report, the international Peer Review Team (PRT) emphasises:

‘The Faculty of Business, Economics ans Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim is particularly distinguished by its research strength.’

In addition, initiatives and projects such as InnoGreenhouse, the focus topics ‘Digital Transformation and Change’, ‘Sustainable Economy and Consumption’ and ‘Inequality and Diversity’, as well as successes in research and other areas of scientific work (e.g. AIDAHO) are particularly recognised.

These assessments reflect our self-image: a research-strong faculty that addresses current social challenges, works in an interdisciplinary manner and provides new impetus in teaching, transfer and practice. We would like to thank all employees, lecturers and students who have made this success possible through their commitment.

‘AACSB accreditation increases our international visibility and confirms that we are a reliable and innovative partner in research and teaching – for students, academic partners and practitioners alike,’ emphasises Dean Prof. Dr. Jörg Schiller.

Benefits for faculty, university and students

For our faculty, accreditation means clear international positioning and a lasting boost to our competitiveness. The University of Hohenheim benefits from its enhanced international reputation and access to global networks.

For our students, AACSB accreditation is a strong signal of quality: they are studying at an institution that meets the highest international standards. This not only strengthens the worldwide recognition of their degrees, but also increases their career opportunities on the international job market. In addition, new opportunities are opening up in international cooperation, exchange programmes and through the global AACSB network.

Visit by the AACSB delegation – impressions and thoughts

The PRT, which is made up exclusively of deans from other accredited business schools, visited our faculty in May 2025. In discussions with lecturers, students, staff and the university management, as well as during tours and specialist meetings, we were able to showcase our strategic goals and strengths – particularly in research, social relevance and innovation. The PRT provided valuable feedback and suggestions.

We are proud of this award – and at the same time highly motivated to continue on our path with quality, responsibility and innovative strength.
