Application and further informations

Welcome to Hohenheim!

You might wonder, where the heck is the University of Hohenheim? Well, rest assured, because you're going to find out …

Have you ever heard of the city of Stuttgart? It is the capital of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg located in south-western Germany. If you watch soccer, you might also have heard of our club, VfB Stuttgart, that is currently playing in the Champions League. The University of Hohenheim can be found just outside the city centre in a beautiful environment with loads of parks, gardens, a stunning library and we also have our own castle on campus!

In addition to our breath-taking campus, the university of Hohenheim consists of three faculties, namely the faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Agricultural Sciences. Especially the faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (BESS) offers a variety of opportunities for local but moreover international students. Due to the structure of the university, the students are closely linked to the professors, promoting the connection and familiarity here in Hohenheim. Furthermore, BESS deals with omnipresent but also modern problems, e.g. through the new course of study “Sustainability and Change”. Lastly, BESS gives you the opportunity to connect to internationally renowned companies like Mercedes-Benz or Porsche.

Alright, now that you know where the University is located and how it looks like, let us give you some more information about the international city of Stuttgart and why it is more than worth it to visit.

Firstly, Stuttgart offers a vibrant cultural scene. With museums and Galleries such as the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the Porsche Museum or the Staatsgalerie, which is interesting for everyone, especially for those of you who are interested in the automotive industry.

However, for everyone else, there is always something to do, for example going to the world-class opera house, visiting the Wilhelma Zoo, hiking onto the Killesberg for a stunning view or just wandering around the city.

Secondly, Stuttgart is located quite in the centre of Europe, making it easy to make the most of your trip by visiting big cities like Munich, Frankfurt, Paris or Zurich. However, there are also numerous other possibilities for you to explore Stuttgarts surrounding, e.g. visiting the Outletcity Metzingen, strolling through the student city of Tübingen or going for a hike in Stuttgarts vineyards or even in the Swabian Alb.

Here you can see the most interesting things of Stuttgart.

Lastly, and probably the most interesting part of Stuttgart for you as an international Business or Social Science student, Stuttgart is home for internationally renowned companies, such as the Mercedes-Benz Group AG, the Porsche AG or the Robert Bosch GmbH. Mercedes-Benz actually has two of its biggest production factories located in and just outside the city of Stuttgart, namely in Untertürkheim and Sindelfingen. Additionally, there is Porsche with its main production facility in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, where the iconic 911 and 718 models but also the Taycan are produced. These two worldwide leading firms in the automotive industry represent the economy city of Stuttgart very well.
