How to Write a Better Dissertation in Your Degree Program

Completion of the doctoral program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences constitutes an additional qualification to the regular doctoral phase. The goal is to provide structured guidance in writing a dissertation as part of the process of earning a Doctor of Economic Sciences or Doctor of Social Sciences degree, in accordance with international quality standards, as well as to impart specialized knowledge, skills, and methods in line with the current state of economic research and scholarly work.

Your Benefits in the Doctoral Program
  • Successful completion of the doctoral program demonstrates research-oriented training and high-quality research contributions.
  • The courses are specifically designed for doctoral students and provide in-depth subject-specific knowledge, particularly in the area of research methods.
  • The doctoral program is designed so that it can be completed alongside a professional position, e.g., in a department within the faculty.
  • Graduates may apply to receive the international academic degree “Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)” instead of a doctoral degree from the faculty.
  • A certificate confirms successful completion of the program.

New: Participation in the doctoral program is possible even before being accepted as a doctoral candidate at the faculty. In this case, admission requirements include, among other things, independently finding a supervisor whose research interests align with your own and meeting the admission requirements for a doctoral program at the faculty.

Approval

The application for admission must be submitted in writing and may be filed at any time. In addition, all doctoral students are required to enroll after being admitted. Doctoral students who are exempt from the enrollment requirement due to a special provision may only participate in the doctoral program by waiving the exemption and enrolling.
