Transdisciplinary Research

In addition to the university’s targeted curriculum, there is the option of incorporating specific methodological or thematic courses offered by other providers. Furthermore, fostering collaboration among researchers in the participating departments - as well as beyond the University of Hohenheim - is a stated goal of the research group. Leveraging existing networks makes it possible to find the knowledge and expert partners needed for one’s own research.

Structure of the Doctoral Program in Finance

The Doctoral Program in Finance is divided into a foundational track and a specialized track. The foundational track focuses in particular on teaching research strategies and methods. This foundational training is supplemented by courses in soft skills and university teaching methods, as well as by active participation in workshops, research seminars, and academic conferences.

In the specialized track, students can choose between the Research Track and the Teaching Track. In the Research Track, the focus is on deepening methodological knowledge and participating in seminars and conferences, which can optionally be supplemented by activities in the field of higher education pedagogy. In the Teaching Track, doctoral candidates earn the Baden-Württemberg Certificate in Higher Education Pedagogy and carry out activities in the field of higher education pedagogy; they also have the option of choosing between an in-depth study of methodology or participation in seminars and conferences.
