They bring diverse perspectives and interests to the table, thereby contributing to the faculty’s participatory governance and continued development.

Responsibilities
The Faculty Council is the central governing body of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim.
It decides on all fundamental matters relating to research, teaching and academic programs that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the dean, the Faculty Board or the faculty’s academic institutions.
Composition
The Faculty Council consists of the members of the Faculty Board, all full-time professors of the faculty, four representatives of the academic staff, three representatives of other faculty staff, and six students.

Responsibilities
The Commission for Study Affairs is responsible for the further development of academic programs and teaching at the faculty. Its key responsibilities include, in particular:
Composition
The Faculty Council appoints a Studies Committee consisting of a maximum of ten members. Four of these are students, and at least one of these students is also a member of the Faculty Council.
The Faculty Board determines which degree programs fall under the Study Commission’s jurisdiction. The Dean of Studies chairs the Commission.

Responsibilities
At least one examination committee is established for the degree programs in each faculty. This committee is responsible for organizing examinations and carrying out the tasks assigned to it in the areas of academic studies and teaching.

Responsibilities
The Doctoral Committee is responsible for all decisions related to doctoral proceedings. In particular, it decides on the admission of doctoral candidates and on the initiation of doctoral proceedings.
Composition
The Doctoral Committee consists of five members from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.
The members and two alternates are appointed by the Faculty Council.

Purpose
Decisions in habilitation proceedings are made by the habilitation committee of the respective faculty.
Composition
The Habilitation Committee consists of the professors and the university lecturers and private lecturers of the extended faculty council.

Responsibilities
To fill professorial positions, the Rector’s Office, in consultation with the faculty, forms an appointment committee for each position. A member of the Rector’s Office or the faculty executive board chairs the committee. The faculty has the right to make recommendations regarding the committee’s composition.

Responsibilities
The Advisory Board serves in an advisory capacity and supports the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences by providing an external and independent perspective. The faculty benefits from the experience and expertise of its members, who are active in various fields of business, public administration, and society.

Each faculty elects at least one Gender Equality Representative from among its academic staff.
The Gender Equality Representative serves as a point of contact for students and academic staff on all matters related to gender equality. She participates in meetings of the faculty council and the appointment and selection committees in an advisory capacity.
The representatives are elected for a two-year term. The current term runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2028.
The mid-level faculty representatives of Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences represent the concerns and interests of the research staff in the faculty. The representatives are elected for a four-year term.
The current term runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027.
Mid-level Faculty Representatives
Responsibilities
The mid-level faculty provides four members to the faculty council. In addition to the elected representatives, the mid-level faculty also serves on various commissions and committees, such as academic program commissions, appointment commissions, and admissions committees.

Information—such as follow-ups to committee meetings—is regularly distributed via a mailing list on ILIAS. All colleagues are invited to join this group. Additional information and documents (e.g., statements, legal texts, tips on the doctoral process, etc.) are also available on the ILIAS platform.
