Top Journals and Conferences

The faculty’s “Top Publication Media List” includes the A* and A journals on the ABDC Journal Quality List, the A* and A conferences from the ICORE conference rankings, the “Science” journal family published by the AAAS (titles beginning with “Science”), and the portfolio of “Nature” journals published by Springer Nature. No other rankings are included. However, at the request of professors, the “Top Publication Media List” may be selectively updated by the Faculty Executive Board to add, remove, or reevaluate individual publication media.

Open Access Publications

Open Access refers to unrestricted, free access to scholarly publications on the Internet. Interested parties may read, download, copy, distribute, print, and cite the full texts without financial, legal, or technical barriers. Excerpts and summaries may be created and distributed digitally, provided that the authorship is appropriately acknowledged. The authors retain the copyright to their contributions.

Avoiding Predatory Publishing

“Predatory journals” refer to a fraudulent business model in the field of scholarly publishing. Certain open-access publishers pose as reputable academic journals and charge authors high publication fees.

Unlike established journals, however, these lack reliable quality assurance: manuscripts are rarely or never reviewed (no peer review) and receive no editorial oversight. For authors, this can lead to a loss of academic credibility.
